I REJECT THE CONCOCTED RESULTS OF THE ADC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES Following reports of widespread voter disenfranchisement in most parts of the country during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Primaries yesterday, I unequivocally reject the concocted results being announced. I had initially stated that I will only accept the outcome of the Primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent, and I stand by my word. I will not accept results from a process that does not reflect the values that the ADC had pledged to uphold, to rescue Nigerians from the impunity and gross mismanagement that our country is currently facing in the hands of the ruling party. There’s no way that about eighty percent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results. Then what makes us different from the others? The whole idea of the ADC was to give the Nigerian people a platform, to amplify the voices of the downtrodden, and make Nigeria a better place for everyone irrespective of backgrounds, ethnicity, or religion. A party that criticizes the ruling APC and INEC for vote buying, rigging and writing of results, cannot be engaged in vote buying, writing of results, and other electoral malpractices that leads to the disenfranchisement of voters who are party members. The success of yesterday’s convention is a testament that the ADC in partnership with the Nigerian people is courageous and determined to take out the Tinubu-led undemocratic government, and this is non-negotiable. We must strive as a party and as a people to achieve our goal by working together against all odds. Like I said at the convention, we must be decisive and rally around a viable candidate. We must stick together and show this wicked and unreasonable tyrant government of the APC, out of power. Nigerians have suffered enough. We will work with the majority of Nigerians to restore dignity to our country and people, and ensure that safety of lives and property of our citizens and residents everywhere in the country is sacrosanct. We will work to restore democratic ideals to our dear country, to bring to bear a government that is transparent, responsible, and accountable to the people.

It is clear that the government in power has no political will to curb the incessant killings and terrorist attacks plaguing our country today. The government has failed to provide adequate protection for its citizens, as evidenced by the surge in terrorist attacks and mass kidnappings in some parts of the country – challenging our national security. This failure to act decisively has sadly emboldened terrorists and eroded public trust. The incessant attacks on innocent citizens in Plateau; the reported attack and kidnapping of secondary schoolgirls in Kebbi; an ambush on soldiers in Borno resulting in the abduction and killing of a Brigadier General, M. Uba; the attack on a church in Kwara; and the kidnapping of a priest, Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal, in Kaduna – all within a week – are too much to be ignored. The Federal Government needs to step up its game, sharpen its response to terrorist activities, strengthen military intelligence and tactical operations, and live up to the expectations of its people. To Mr. President: your primary assignment is the security of lives and property. Enough of looking the other way or issuing watery statements of condemnation. Prioritizing a summit or jetting out for whatever reason when Nigerians are dying can never be the trait of a good leader. It is time to probe wrong decisions, strategize, and make tough calls. The current situation calls for decisive leadership, stronger intelligence coordination, and accountability. We did it in Rivers State; it can be done in the country.
