Calgary Police engagement report
@CalgaryPolice - 287K followers on X
Measured over 57 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on October 22, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 36 interactions against 287K followers, an engagement rate of 0.013%. Measured over 57 original posts, its engagement rate beats 26% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 12K times each, and 0.289% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 4.34% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 2 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 53% of days. Most posts go out around 14:00 UTC, and Friday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 57 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video and 58% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 1.2K interactions, about 34x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Calgary Police's engagement rate beats 26% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 9 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 17% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.013%, Calgary Police sits above the 10th percentile of the 205,374 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 100% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |
| Outbound link | 58% of posts | -41% | -42% to -40% | 32K |
| Typical length | - | +15% | +14% to +16% | 32K |
- 100% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 58% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
- Its average post runs 930 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, just after midnight, we pulled over a rideshare driver with a passenger travelling 101 km/h in an 80 km/h construction zone on northbound Deerfoot Trail near 32 Ave. N.E. Rather than pulling over on the shoulder, the driver stopped in the middle of the lane putting all other drivers on the road at risk. 🔴 Eventually, the driver moved off the road and was given three tickets. 1 for speeding, 1 for careless driving & 1 for not pulling over for an emergency vehicle. The fines totalled $1,572. ⚠️ Stopping in the middle of a roadway creates a hazard for other drivers, blocks traffic & puts everyone, including officers, at greater risk. 🔗 Join the Drive to Zero: https://t.co/oFGePP5YxX

🔵 UPDATE 🔵 Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a multi-vehicle collision in N.E. Calgary that resulted in 3 fatalities & left 1 person with life-altering injuries. 📍 At approx. 1:10 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, a City of Calgary transit bus was travelling northbound in the 800 block of Saddletowne Circle N.E., approaching the intersection of 80 Avenue N.E. It is believed the bus struck a truck travelling in the same direction. The truck entered an adjacent lane, where it sideswiped a SUV before continuing forward & striking the rear of a box truck. The bus continued northbound & struck the rear of a sedan, pushing the vehicle through the intersection. The sedan then travelled toward Saddletowne Circle N.E., where it struck a truck. Both vehicles eventually came to rest. The bus continued northbound & struck the rear of a 2nd City of Calgary transit bus. Both buses travelled a short distance following the collision before coming to a stop. During the collision, the natural-gas tanks on the 2nd bus ignited. The 2nd bus continued forward before striking a sedan. Within seconds, the fire intensified resulting in an explosion & significant fire inside the bus. 3 passengers on the 2nd bus were found deceased. 2 have since been identified & their next of kin have been notified. Efforts to identify the 3rd individual remain ongoing. The driver of the 2nd bus was able to exit the vehicle. The driver of the 1st bus was transported to hospital with life-altering injuries. The remaining drivers involved in the collision were either uninjured or sustained minor injuries. As a result of the multi-vehicle collision, 16 people sustained minor injuries, including an officer who is now recovering at home. At this time, it is too early to determine whether impairment, speed or distraction contributed to the collision. All possible factors remain under investigation. Anyone who was affected by witnessing this incident is encouraged to connect with our Victim Assistance Support Team (VAST) by calling 403-428-8398 or toll-free at 1-888-327-7828. On October 8, 1993, Const. Rick Sonnenberg & his partner attempted to stop a speeding stolen vehicle by laying down a spike belt. Tragically, Const. Sonnenberg was struck by the speeding car & was killed. The youth suspect was caught & convicted of criminal negligence causing death, hit & run & possession of a stolen vehicle. Const. Sonnenberg, 27, was with the Calgary Police Service for just under 4 years at the time of his death & was about to announce his engagement to be married. He was survived by his mother, his sister & his niece. Following Const. Sonnenberg's death, his sister led a campaign to raise funds for a police helicopter. The Calgary Police Service acquired HAWC1 in July 1995 & HAWC2 in April 2005. Both have proven to be effective in providing aerial support to ground-based units. The life of a police officer can be ended at a moment’s notice. Their loss shall be forever remembered.

- What is Calgary Police's engagement rate on X?
- Calgary Police (@CalgaryPolice) has an engagement rate of 0.013%, based on the median interactions across 57 original posts from the last 30 days against 286,636 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.013%, Calgary Police sits above the 10th percentile of the 205,374 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @CalgaryPolice have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 26% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @CalgaryPolice post?
- Most posts go out around 14:00 UTC, and Friday is its busiest day, at roughly 2 posts per day across the measured window.
