كانت هناك قيادات تقود أعنف المعارك، ومع ذلك كانت تتحرك بأعلى درجات الحذر، حتى إن كثيرًا من الناس لم يكونوا يعرفون أشكالهم، لشدة تحفظهم الأمني وقلة ظهورهم. ومن هنا تبرز أهمية مراجعة الإجراءات الأمنية الخاصة بحماية القيادات. فذهاب قائد بحجم العميد أسامة الردفاني -رحمه الله تعالى- بلباس مدني، وفي سيارة مدنية، إلى منطقة قبلية ذات تعقيدات أمنية، ومن دون إجراءات حماية كافية، يثير تساؤلات مشروعة حول مستوى التأمين وتقدير المخاطر. وإذا كانت المهمة تقتصر على إيصال رسالة أو متابعة او تأييد شأن قبلي، فربما كان من الأنسب تكليف من يؤديها دون تعريض قائد ميداني بارز للخطر. رحم الله العميد أسامة الردفاني، وقدر الله وما شاء فعل. هذه الحادثة يجب أن تكون جرس إنذار لمراجعة بروتوكولات حماية القيادات، فالحفاظ على القيادات العسكرية والدعوية المخلصة ليس مسؤولية أفرادها وحدهم، بل مسؤولية المؤسسة بأكملها.
