في مثل هذا اليوم عام 1969 نفذت المناضلة ليلى خالد رفقة سليم العيساوي وكلاهما من قيادات الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين عملية اختطاف طائرة أمريكية كانت تتجه من روما إلى تل أبيب واقتادوها إلى دمشق وفجروا مقدمتها ثم أفرجوا عن الركاب عدا 3 إسرائيليين تم احتجازهم لثلاثة أشهر وتم مبادلتهم بعدها بأسرى عرب بسجون الاحتلال وهدفت العملية إلى لفت أنظار العالم للقضية الفلسطينية

كان الشيخ الشعراوي رحمه الله حين يستدعي تفسير #سيد_قطب لآيةٍ قرآنية من كتابه #في_ظلال_القرآن —-و لطالما استشهد به الإمام الشعراوي في حلقات خواطره التليفزيونية حول القرآن - كان الشيخ يقول :- رحم الله صاحب الظلال الوارفة — في اليوم 29 أغسطس 1966م، أعدمه قائد فراعين الأمة و مرجعية طغاتها في هذا الزمان رغم مناشدات كثير من أهل العلم و السياسة و الحكم بإلغاء قرار الإعدام و كان منهم الشيخ عبد العزيز بن باز، رحمه الله والملك فيصل خادم الحرمين الشريفين وقتها وعلال الفاسي زعيم الحركة الوطنية المغربية و أحد المفكرين الذين يشار إليهم بالبنان في العصر الحديث ، وغيرهم كثيرون ناشدوا عبد الناصر ألا يعدم رجل القرآن #سيد_قطب، و رغم إعدامه بعد كل تلك العقود من الزمان ما زالت كلمات #سيد_قطب تؤرق الطغاة و تقض مضاجعهم صدق صاحب الظلال حين قال :- ( إن كلماتنا ستبقى ميتةً لا حراك فيها هامدةً أعراساً من الشموع ، فإذا متنا من أجلها انتفضت و عاشت بين الأحياء ، )
