Early reading. We have captured 2 original posts for this account, below the 8 we require before treating a median as settled. The numbers above describe what we have seen so far, not a finished profile of the account.

A typical post picks up 1.2K interactions against 244K followers, an engagement rate of 0.503%. Posts are seen about 36K times each, and 3.42% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 14.7% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.07 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 7% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 07:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 2 posts sampled, 50% carry an image or video. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 13K interactions, about 10x its own typical post. Only 2 original posts have been captured so far, fewer than the 8 posts we want behind a median before treating it as settled. Read the figures above as an early measurement of this account, not as a finished profile of it.

Engagement rate as a share of followers, across the 204,694 accounts we have scanned enough to measure. The axis is logarithmic, because the top and bottom of this population are about 22,880 times apart and a linear axis would flatten everything below the median into a single point.

Posting timing

This account posts most often around 07:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • Its average post runs 568 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Europe must stop waiting for signals from Washington and take the initiative in Ukraine. Paper guarantees mean nothing to Putin. Only concrete commitments matter.  That’s why I now call for Europe to deploy up to 20,000 troops behind Ukraine’s front lines, establish an air shield with around 150 combat aircraft, and unlock frozen Russian assets.  Europe earns its seat at the table by bringing real capability, not by asking for permission.  https://t.co/aImZnppCeW

The world's democracies are being targeted one by one. That has to stop. China has imposed trade boycotts on Australia, Lithuania, South Korea and Canada. Each time, the target stood alone. Each time, it worked. The answer is not self-sufficiency. It is collective action. Today I launch After the Rupture: An alliance of middle-power democracies led by a D-7: seven democracies representing 30% of the global economy, acting together on trade, technology, critical minerals and defence. Not a new institution. A coalition of the willing, and the able. Full paper → https://t.co/puAxqaYUYQ

Ukraine today is militarily the strongest nation in Europe. It’s battle tested, battle hardened. Usually we look at Ukraine as a country that needs our help. That is still right, but we should look at Ukraine as an asset, a country that can actually contribute to European security. We should strengthen the European pillar within Nato based on a coalition of the willing, including Ukraine. My interview with the Guardian https://t.co/pXSzOFY8vE

Blocking the loan to Ukraine is a gift to its adversaries.  Europe made a commitment. That commitment must be kept.  Ukraine’s future is not a bargaining chip.  The cost of failure is measured in Ukrainian lives.

After having met both Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s former president, I can assure you: they respect only power.  The debate about European envoys risks becoming a distraction if it is not anchored in a peace-through-strength strategy. My opinion piece in The Economist

Having read the agreement between the US, Denmark and Greenland I must say, I welcome it heartily. Sovereignty is respected, security is strengthened, and NATO's role is reinforced. I consider it a victory for the transatlantic alliance. In principle, all the parties emerge stronger. But the real work only starts now. To make the agreement a success and realize its full potential, the parties need to take the necessary steps and invest in both NATO’s security in the Arctic and the economic growth in Greenland. The photo is from a previous visit I had to Per, Mads and twelve dogs from The Sirius Dog Sled Patrol that help enforce the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark over North and North-East Greenland. Even though we can also use drones, satellites and many other capabilities to secure the area, we still need people patrolling the ice.

For years, I called on European allies to meet the 2% defence spending threshold. Too few listened. New data shows the tide has turned.  Germany — Europe’s largest economy — has crossed 2% of GDP for the first time since 1990. Spain too, for the first time since 1994. Europe is finally stepping up.   Still, with Russia's war against in Ukraine showing no signs of abating we cannot afford any complacency.  We must integrate Ukraine into Europe's defence and invest more in modern battlefield technology.
