Early reading. We have captured 2 original posts for this account, below the 8 we require before treating a median as settled. The numbers above describe what we have seen so far, not a finished profile of the account.

A typical post picks up 205 interactions against 223K followers, an engagement rate of 0.092%. Posts are seen about 21K times each, and 0.983% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 9.35% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.53 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 37% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 12:00 UTC, and Monday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 2 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 2.7K interactions, about 13x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #azerbaijangp, #f1. Only 2 original posts have been captured so far, fewer than the 8 posts we want behind a median before treating it as settled. Read the figures above as an early measurement of this account, not as a finished profile of it.

Posting timing

This account posts most often around 12:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

President Museveni wrote re-opening Nation Media Group operations (Monitor, NTV Uganda, Spark TV, KFM, Nation Couriers) in Uganda from July 28, but the army is still physically occupying the premises three days later. Staff have to work remotely. We're seeing a power play? Indications are that Museveni actually wrote the letter reopening "immediately" on July 23, but it became public only 5 days later.

In the case against @kizzabesigye1 and Haj Obed Lutale, the Constitution, the laws of Uganda and basic court procedures are being cast aside. They asked the court for one simple thing: let their chosen lawyers, Erias Lukwago and Martha Karua, defend them. Instead of fixing a hearing, Acting Justice Kinobe has fixed a ruling. How can a court decide an application without first hearing the applicants? #FreeKizzaBesigye #FreeObedLutale

Kenya’s bank sector has been awash with acquisitions so far in 2026. @Absa’s $238 million tender offer to raise its stake in the local unit from 68.5% to 85% closed on August 11. @Nedbank offered to buy 66% of @NCBABankKenya shares in January. On the 4th of August, it reported that shareholders holding 79.9% of the bank accepted its payout offer. So where does this leave the local unit of Africa’s largest bank [@StanbicKE] at a time when its continental rivals are expanding their presence in East Africa? “Our focus is doubling down on organic growth of different segments,” Joshua Oigara tells me. If there is an acquisition, he says, their areas of interest are in fintech & payments.

We’re seeing double digit increases in lending as Kenyan banks report their H1-26 results. The local unit of Africa’s biggest bank [@StanbicKE ] lent 24% more to clients in the first half of 2026. @KCBInKenya reported a 14% rise over the period. @Coopbankenya reported an 18% rise. These numbers track with the wider sector figures. Private sector credit growth hit double digits (10.6% in June according to data from @CBKKenya), getting into the bottom end of the target range the Central Bank Governor had in mind last year. But with the worst El Nino in eight decades on the horizon and the anticipated dip in investments & consumer spending ahead of what will likely be a fractious 2027 election, won’t these credit growth trends stall? Joshua Oigara, CEO at Stanbic Holdings, expects to end 2026 with private sector credit growth “around 16% - 18%.” While Stanbic’s lending to the trade sector surged 19% in H1-26, household lending lagged behind. That's a reflection, Oigara notes, of the bank’s corporate-leaning client base. (Per CBK data, Stanbic held ~322,000 deposit accounts in 2024, compared to KCB’s 53.7 million and @KeEquityBank's 14.4 million.) At under 8% in H1-26, Stanbic’s gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio was well under the sector average of 14.6%. But when your NPL ratios are that low, Oigara points out, is the bank’s credit policy “too tight” for the segments they want to grow in?

@KenyaAirways plans to add 18 aircraft to its fleet by 2030. That’s at least 4 aircraft per year added to the fleet either via leases or outright purchase, without taking fleet replacements into account.  The immediate priority in 2026 is to add a Boeing 777 to the fleet, while getting two other grounded Boeing 787s back online, George Kamal, the airline’s acting Managing Director tells me.  But how will an airline that reported a net loss of $124.2 million in H1-26 and has a negative equity position of $1.14 billion, fund these acquisitions?  That question is closely tied to the airline’s years long (and so far unsuccessful) search for a strategic investor. To paraphrase a line from the Sound of Music, “How do you solve a problem like Kenya Airways?”
