Peine immense en apprenant le décès de François Patriat, ami et homme de bien. Animé par une fidélité sans faille à ses valeurs et à ses engagements, il était une mine de bienveillance dans un monde politique souvent rude. Son humanité, son humour, son expérience de terrain de vétérinaire et d’élu local inspiraient la confiance et l’affection. Ses conseils étaient précieux et j’ai pu en bénéficier moult fois au Sénat où il jouait un rôle clé. Son « pot de départ » au Sénat il y a quelques semaines était à son image : humain et chaleureux. Edgar Morin était l’incarnation du principe de vitalité. Grand résistant, mettant sa vie en jeu pour la liberté ; grand penseur passant toutes les frontières disciplinaires pour chercher la vérité complexe de l’humain; être humain exceptionnel par son ouverture d’esprit et sa joie de vivre par-delà toutes les épreuves. La liste de ce qu’il aimait serait bien longue. La lecture, l’écriture, la musique, la France, l’Amérique latine, le cinéma, les amis, les bonheurs simples de l’existence qui le rendaient amoureux de la vie, encore à 105 ans. Il aimait confronter ses idées à tout ce qui était différent. Nos débats pouvaient durer des heures entières dans le plaisir de la confrontation des idées, de son immense culture et de son expérience incomparable. Nous avions tant de différences! Et un tel plaisir qu’il en soit ainsi pour progresser par l’échange. Nous en avons même fait un livre. Il était un ami sûr et droit, un homme de bien, un homme bon. Je perds un être que j’aimais profondément et qui m’a donné des signes d’affection inoubliables. En pensée avec sa femme Sabah Abouessalam-Morin qui a tant fait pour lui jusqu’au bout.
