Jamiat delegation meets Joint Commissioner of Police on #UttamaNagar issue New Delhi, March 10: Taking serious note of the tense situation that emerged following the death of 26-year-old Tarun Kumar in JJ Colony, Uttam Nagar, a delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind today met Joint Commissioner of Police (Western Range) Jatin Narwal at his office in Janakpuri. The delegation met the senior police official on the instructions of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani. The delegation was led by General Secretary Maulana Mohammad Hakeemuddin Qasmi, who expressed deep concern over the rising communal tension and provocative activities reported from the area after the incident. The delegation urged the police to take immediate and effective steps to restore confidence among residents and prevent any attempt to disturb communal harmony. A detailed memorandum outlining the organisation’s concerns and demands was submitted to the police authorities. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has also addressed letters on the matter to the Union Home Minister, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, and the Commissioner of Delhi Police. During the meeting, the delegation informed the police that members of the Muslim community in the locality are living under a climate of fear and anxiety following the incident. According to the memorandum, certain communal elements are allegedly attempting to exploit the situation by spreading provocative messages and issuing threats against Muslims and their properties. The organisation also raised concern over inflammatory videos and slogans circulating on social media that appear to target an entire community. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind stated that the death of Tarun Kumar is deeply unfortunate and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. At the same time, the organisation stressed that the entire matter must be investigated in a fair, transparent and impartial manner so that the complete facts come to light. According to local accounts, the incident appears to have arisen from a dispute between two groups, but certain elements are attempting to give it a communal colour. The memorandum further highlighted reports of vandalism, looting and arson targeting the houses of the accused and their neighbours after the incident. It also raised concerns regarding the bulldozer action reportedly undertaken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, stating that such measures must strictly follow the due process of law, as emphasised by the Supreme Court of India. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind placed the following key demands before the authorities: • Strict legal action against individuals spreading communal hatred or inciting violence. • Immediate steps to curb inflammatory and misleading content circulating on social media. • Adequate security arrangements in JJ Colony and surrounding areas to ensure peace and public safety. • A fair investigation into incidents of vandalism, looting and arson reported after the incident. • In view of the ongoing Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, ensuring full protection so that Muslims can open their shops, offer prayers in mosques and perform Eid prayers in Eidgah without fear. Joint Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal assured the delegation that the police are taking necessary measures to maintain law and order in the area and that strict action will be taken against those spreading hatred or rumours. He informed the delegation that entry of outsiders into the locality has already been restricted and that meetings of the peace committee are being organised to promote communal harmony. He also assured that members of the Muslim community would be provided full protection for religious activities and routine business operations. During the meeting, he immediately contacted the local police station to review the market situation and directed that shops should be allowed to open normally while ensuring complete security for shopkeepers.

---------------

Saharanpur Mosque Demolition: Jamiat Chief Questions Haste, Says Doors of Justice Were Shut New Delhi, September 6, 2026: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president Maulana Mahmood Madani has strongly condemned the demolition of a century-old mosque on the Saharanpur Collectorate premises, describing the administration’s action as a serious blow to the principles of justice and due process. Madani said the manner in which the demolition was carried out raised fundamental questions about the administration’s conduct. Since the dispute concerned land within the Collectorate premises, he said, the administration and the magistrate had themselves become parties to the matter. “It is a universally recognised principle of law that no party can be a judge in its own cause,” he said, adding that unilateral action in such circumstances amounted to a serious violation of the principles of justice. Maulana Madani further said that the lower court’s order of September 4 contained no explicit direction for the immediate demolition of the mosque. Yet, within just a few hours, the administration proceeded to demolish the mosque in the night, without allowing the affected party sufficient time to pursue legal remedies or even obtain a certified copy of the court order. He said a lower court’s decision cannot be treated as the final word when the law provides avenues of appeal before the higher judiciary. “The Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to approach the higher courts for relief. When an action can cause irreversible damage, denying the affected party even a reasonable opportunity to seek judicial intervention is deeply troubling,” Madani said. He questioned the extraordinary haste with which the demolition was carried out, saying it had effectively left the affected party with little or no opportunity to seek relief from the higher judiciary. “When the consequences of an action are irreversible, the first responsibility of the authorities should be to ensure due process, not to rush through the demolition,” he said. Maulana Madani urged the mosque committee and its legal advisers to approach the High Court without delay and seek appropriate judicial intervention. He said the action of the administration must be subjected to judicial scrutiny and that the rule of law must prevail over the arbitrary exercise of official authority. In a broader appeal, Maulana Madani called upon all sections of society committed to justice, constitutional values and communal harmony to speak out against what he described as a growing pattern of arbitrary action against mosques and other places of worship. He said such actions cannot be viewed in isolation and warned that allowing them to continue unchecked could deepen communal divisions and undermine the country’s shared social and constitutional values.

....................................

#MiddleEastWar Poses Grave Threat to #GlobalPeace #UN and major powers must act decisively for immediate ceasefire: Jamiat New Delhi, March 2, 2026: The President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Mahmood Madani, on Monday expressed deep concern over the rapidly escalating situation in the Middle East, warning that continued military escalation could have far-reaching consequences for global peace and stability. He said that recent aggressive and provocative actions by the United States and Israel have significantly heightened tensions in the region and pushed it towards a dangerous phase. Expressing grief over the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his aides along with members of his family, Maulana Madani said that targeting the leadership of any sovereign country runs contrary to established international norms and treaties, and risks dragging the world towards greater instability. He said Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind stands in solidarity with the people of Iran in this moment of grief. At the same time, he also voiced concern over Iran’s actions in other countries of the region, stressing that the present circumstances demand restraint, dialogue, and collective efforts for peace. Maulana Madani said that political and international disputes cannot be resolved through force or bloodshed, adding that military solutions only deepen hostility, fuel cycles of revenge, and result in humanitarian suffering. He urged the United Nations and the global community to play an active and effective role in securing an immediate ceasefire, de-escalation, and facilitating meaningful diplomatic engagement to prevent further destruction in the region. Warning of wider repercussions, he said that unless global powers act with responsibility, fairness, and diplomatic wisdom, the fallout of the current crisis will extend well beyond the Middle East and threaten international stability. Reiterating the organization’s position, Maulana Madani said Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind opposes any action that pushes humanity towards war and instability, and called for urgent efforts to resolve the crisis through dialogue and peaceful negotiations.
